Awesome bag, clever design
Like all Timbuk2 products, this bag is extremely thoughtfully designed.

Specific details I liked are the strap wranglers (Velcro attachments to avoid having flapping straps hanging all over the place).

As advertised, the laptop pouch is safely inside the main pouch and not quickly accessible (eg at airport security); but the safety and protection make this trade off worth it if you don't anticipate needing quick/frequent access.

my work backpack of choice.
I work out of this backpack on film sets and am often carrying heavy and diverse loads including my laptop, paperwork, cameras, etc.

After looking at backpacks online and in shops for weeks, I picked this one and haven't been disappointed.

The reasons I bought this over other laptop backpacks:

- great, super defensive laptop compartment that fits pretty much any laptop (I use a 15.4" Macbook Pro - will fit 17" laptops as well)
- two water bottle/misc pockets
- two compression straps on each side
- heavy duty zippers (I would be shocked if they break!)
- extremely comfortable shoulder straps and good load management. All around solid construction.
- a variety of internal organization

That said, this is not my all-purpose travel backpack. For that, I use a pack that has a little more raw capacity. This is more compartmentalized and work-oriented than I generally prefer for weekend trips sans laptop...

Great mobile office, no matter what work you do!
I use this backpack for my job as a home health nurse, and I LOVE it! I bought it to replace the AWFUL roller bag that is standard issue in my company because I quickly got tired of trying to steer the roller bag.

The Giga Office has all the pockets I need! One for my laptop and a folder for a few papers I most commonly need, one for not often used and/or clean medical supplies, one for frequently used supplies (blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, etc, and even a little pocket for me to stash my keys, wallet, and pens when I go in to see a patient! Plus the mesh pockets on the side are perfect! I have my CPR mask kit in one and a pump bottle of hand sanitizer in the other!

It's a great bag. Definitely durable and really comfortable to wear with nicely padded straps! I highly recommend it.
Good
Exterior bag is a bit small, but mildly water-proof and is very useful for packing raincoats. The notebook segment provides excellent protection. Feels light on the shoulder, and cool on the back with the frame. Additional pocket inside keeps document from wriggling. Hand-carry holder at the top is cleverly designed so that it doesn't deform the bag. Excellent overall.

Exceeded expectations
Loved the way the pack looked in pictures but was concerned that it would look too bulky/boxy on a female frame. Turns out it was only boxy for the first or second use, and after that, the canvas follows the shape of whatever you are carrying in the pack, and your back. It's leather straps and metal buckles are less tedious to fasten and unfasten than one would imagine. The pack is what every Duluth pack owner says it is - high-quality materials, sturdy construction, classic style, can't go wrong. A bit pricey, but really worth it as I see myself carrying this for many years to come.

Huge!
This bag is huge! I'm 5'3" and it's about the size of my torso. It seems larger than it's 16"x13" dimensions, I anticipated something bigger than a legal size portfolio but not this large. I don't think it's practical for commuting but as an overnight or weekend bag it would be excellent. Lug bags are overall well-made, well thought out and water-repellant; this one is no different. If you want to carry a laptop, some documents, a change of clothes (or maybe even two) and some toiletries this will be a tremendous asset; you'll finally be able to keep everything in one bag while keeping pocketbook contents in the smaller front and side pockets. If you frequently go on short trips that require you to still be productive consider this bag. For going back and forth everyday it's just too much.

Great!
I bought this without much research, but it is a great backpack. It is big, which is great for when you have a lot of books, laptop, and all of your other school supplies. My only complaint is when you don't have much; it droops down.

Jansport Merit
I purchased this to bring with me on a ferry while commuting back and forth to an island every day, and from the ferry to and from my construction site.

Some positive aspects are the straps are comfortable, with plenty of adjustment for a man my size of 200lbs, and feel strong at the top seam. The back of the bag is comfortable against my back also. It has a small side zippered pocket for things as keys or boat tickets. It was the largest backpack, and it does have quite a bit of space. There is one side net pocket that a Gatorade bottle fits in. The laptop slot inside is a nice touch, but the securing strap for it should be adjustable to keep smaller laptops tightly secured- if you have a 13 inch, it will flop around a bit.

Some negative issues I found are the bottom of the back does not have an extra layer of nylon, or a thicker layer to begin with, so any surface other than a desk will prematurely ware the bottom away. As many people have complained of, the...

Jansport is the best
A word about Jansport.

I bought this to replace a pack I had since 98. That pack has been with me all over the world and was solid until recently when one of the plastic locks on shoulder straps broke. While I bought this one to go with me on a recent trip I sent my old pack back to Jansport to get it fixed. Per their life-time warranty, I got my old travel buddy back with not one new plastic lock but two! With this service, I have decided to stick with Jansport forever.

This pack was as close to the one I originally had as I could find. I like the laptop sleeve, the side net pocket, and the small pocket zipped pocket on the side of the top pouch.

This thing is going to be a trooper too!
Just what the daughter ordered
I purchased this backpack for my daughter only after many failed attempts finding anything similar at several retail stores.

This seems to be one of the very few that actually fits a 17 inch laptop. When you add her books and such there's still plenty of room for other "stuff". Great selection of colors too. Even with shipping charges it was still less expensive than others we've seen. She loves all the pockets for games and her phone and lets face it, college students accumulate lots of "stuff". The quality was impressive to me also.

She's very pleased and therefore so am I! Thanks!
